Capital City Of Nevada

Carson City

Nevada

It's 4th of July Weekend, destination Carson City/ NV.

This fourth I got to spend my holiday away from doing the typical backyard BBQ. It was my first time in this city, but the familiarity of a nearby city lowered my expectations. Travel Tip: Get a early head start on the drive if you plan to drive here for the holiday.  Our 4 hour drive turned into a 6 hour drive due to everyone heading to nearby cities such as Tahoe or Reno for the weekend. The drive can be a very beautiful scenic route but if you get motion sickness like me some of the windy roads up the mountain can get to you. As we began to head out of the woods and into Nevada territory you'll notice farm life and dry plains populate this area for miles.

I stayed in a small town called Minden right outside of Carson City, NV. What I loved about this small town was that it had the majority of stores you would find in the Bay Area. But what makes it better was that it wasn't a overpopulated city, So target and Costco we're total dead zones! After my first night in this city, the following day we hit up Virginia City a 30 min drive from Minden. Virginia City is a census-designated place (CDP) is a type of place that is identified by the United States Census Bureau for statistical reasons. Going in with higher expectations since I love anything historical and finding new museums, I was actually saddened a bit with how disappointing it was. The city itself and the architect of the buildings read history. But most of the stores and supposed haunted places turned out to be just cheap tourist attractions. Many of the museums we're held inside small stores at a cheap cost ($3-5) but came at the end of the day a 50/50 chance it would be a actually really good. We even went into a beautiful church with breathless stained glassed windows but I was saddened to see a gift shop in the corner.

I spent my last day in Carson City, probably the highlight and the number one reason why people visit this city was their shooting ranges! Nevada does not permit gun laws as they do in the back in California. To keep it short I've gone shooting in the East Bay and the loud noises of firearms being shot within a building always made me anxious. But when I got to shoot again in Nevada in wide open spaces I felt more comfortable and at ease to shoot out into the bunkers.

Would I go back to this wonderful city, Of course. It's always nice to get away from the city vibes and do some shooting every now and then. I feel like their may be a little more to this city then what it is but until the next adventure!

Ciao, Chrystal
