Mini Trip: San Diego CA

Ciao loves,

Talk about a long overdue blog post. But your girl finally took a mini vacation with the little sister. ( Yes she’s younger than me) San Diego, CA been on the bucket list for quite some time now. To get away from the chilly weather we’ve been having in the Bay Area we decided on a warmer location. I impulsively took this trip to get some inspiration that I’ve been lacking this past year.

The popular spot we couldn’t miss out was Balboa Park. This place was a gold mine for me. Where museums and nature meet together. Home to 17 museums and a community filled with so much culture. You can honestly come back here anytime and discover something new. Because we we’re only in San Diego for two days we chose to opt out of spending a whole day at the San Diego Zoo. We did spend some time admiring the architectural work around the park. As well as stopping at a the San Diego Museum of Art.

Don’t get me started on the food and nightlife in San Diego. One of my good friends who went to school to UCSD gave me a list of amazing places and foodies to check out. In Little Italy we stopped at the Crack Shack($10-15) and tried their mouth watering Coope Deville sandwiches. We also indulged ourselves at the Carnitas Snack Shack ($10-20) located in North Park. I kid you not these were probably the best carnitas french fries I’ve ever had. What was also great about the North Park was that it was right next to the pier. So to get our steps in and digest all the foodies we ate. We strolled around the area taking in the warm sunshine and shopping at local vendors. When the day turns into night. There is nothing more that makes me happy then going dancing.

The nightlife in San Diego was so different compared to the normal San Francisco nights I’ve had. We adventured out to downtown San Diego. And discovered Sevilla Restaurant and Tapas Bar ($$ 20-30). I instantly fell in love with this place because of their live music. It was something out of a La La Land movie except with Hispanic music. We enjoyed their paellas and cocktails drinks they offered on the menu. The atmosphere was so lively and fun. To see a range of ages dancing on the floor and listening to the beautiful live music. The night did not stop there. Because I decided to drag my little sister next door to a club that was connected to the restaurant. With that I took my sister out of her element. Not only it was a 21 and over club but a club that played reggaeton music all night long. Reggaeton being one of my top favorite genres to listen to. I had the time of my life.

We ended our trip lounging and relaxing at Coronado Beach (FREE) . Needless to say we did not get that much sun that day. Compared to our Bay Area beaches going to the beach here is more of a daily ritual for the locals. Overall my trip to San Diego was short but well needed. Not only was this a trip to find some inspiration in writing again. It was the best quality time with my sister. I kid you not I anticipated we would drive each other crazy on this trip. Fun fact about my sister and probably a good traveling tip. To save up on some coin and if you’re on a budget share meals. I spent a bunch of money buying 2 separate meals. Only to realize my sister is more of a snacker then a meal person. ( I figured this out on our way back on our bus ride. She kept feeding me the most random snacks from the corner of the backseat.) I would definitely come back again and explore more of San Diego.

Until the next adventure.

Ciao Love,

Chrystal
